Job Overview
Human Services Professional position providing services to students at various schools within the Maui District as needed and assigned by the Maui District Office.
Salary- Human Services Professional II, SR-18: $4,713.57 - $5,738.45 per month
- Human Services Professional III, SR-20: $5,094.56 - $6,205.68 per month
- Human Services Professional IV, SR-22: $5,513.57 - $6,710.93 per month
- Seek to improve the overall quality of life of people within the context of their environment through remediation and prevention of problems, and by improving accessibility, accountability, and coordination of service delivery among a variety of professionals and agencies.
- Establish working relationships of mutual respect and trust with the clientele served, and utilize a variety of helping interventions to enable clients to function effectively.
- Service students’ IEPs which include parent education and training, leading and directing paraprofessionals, case coordination for students with a multidisciplinary team, and providing training in areas specific to autism such as applied behavior analysis.
- Consult and collaborate with students’ families and school teams.
- Address complex cases requiring higher authority and nuanced understanding of service delivery.
Basic Education Requirement: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree that includes a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in courses such as counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, sociology, or other behavioral sciences. Must demonstrate ability to write clear and comprehensive reports, interpret complex written material, and solve complex problems logically and systematically.
Experience Requirements: Applicants must have progressively responsible experience as described, with at least the following:
Human Services Professional II – 1/2 year progressive experience;
Human Services Professional III – 1 year and 1/2 progressive experience;
Human Services Professional IV – 2 years and 1/2 progressive experience. Specialized experience includes professional work with individuals and families, developing and implementing service plans, monitoring services, and evaluating progress.
Driver’s License Requirement: Applicant must possess a current, valid driver’s license.
Substitutions Allowed- Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social welfare, sociology, or other behavioral science with at least three courses on human behavior constitutes a pass for Human Services Professional III.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited university qualifies for Human Services Professional II.
- Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited university qualifies for Human Services Professional III when coursework focuses on direct services work.
Possession of the required number of years of experience alone does not prove qualification. Overall experience must demonstrate the scope and level of responsibility required for the position.
