Overview

As a Nuclear Medicine PET/CT Technologist, you will perform tests using Nuclear Medicine, CT scans, and PET/CT scans to help diagnose patients. You will receive training on new PET/CT procedures like Axumin, NETSPOT, Amyloid, and cancer imaging. You will also learn about the latest CT technology, such as Dual Energy and advanced image processing. You will gain experience in specialized tests, including Coronary CTAs, Dual Energy Metal Suppression, and measuring kidney stones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build good relationships with co-workers and staff in other departments.
  • Work under general supervision.
  • Talk to patients to get their medical history, explain the procedures, and address their concerns.
  • Perform various PET/CT tests following doctors  orders to provide images and information for diagnoses or treatment.
  • Use Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT to find health problems with radiation.
  • Produce images using a CT scanner as needed.
  • Process data and improve digital images using advanced technology.
  • Use equipment safely and follow standards during all procedures.
  • Check images to ensure quality and proper calibration.
  • Assist doctors by conducting scans of organs or body parts.
  • Give patients radiopharmaceuticals and medications for imaging and treatment.
  • Record and manage the amount of radiation used according to department rules.
  • Watch patients during tests and report any unusual signs.
  • Be familiar with basic concepts and procedures in the field.
  • Use your experience to plan and achieve goals.
  • Show skills that meet the needs of patients and provide excellent service.
  • Use equipment safely and maintain a good working environment.
  • Follow policies and guidelines for department operations.
Education Requirements
  • Must have a High School Diploma.
  • Completion of a formal training program in Radiologic Technology from an approved school is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
License/Certification Requirements
  • BLS Certification or a Hands-On CPR certification is needed.
  • Must be registered as a Certified Technologist in Nuclear Medicine by the state.
  • Must be registered as a Certified Radiologic Technologist by the state.
  • Must have NMTCB and/or A.R.R.T. (N) certification.
  • Must be registered as an RT and CT Technologist by the A.R.R.T.
  • Valid CPR certification is also required.
Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in radiology is needed.
