Incumbent performs the full range of cardiac diagnostic ultrasound procedures and the more complex specialized procedures on adult and pediatric patients. This includes M‑mode, 2‑D and 3‑D imaging, color Doppler, pulsed Doppler, continuous‑wave Doppler, transesophageal echo, pharmacological and exercise stress echo, Holter monitors, and ECGs. The sonographer recognizes and describes abnormal findings and tailors the procedure to provide a comprehensive exam.
The cardiac sonographer decides when to use echo contrast agents or agitated saline injections according to the CVC policy. The technologist prepares and positions patients, adjusts equipment to best demonstrate the area of interest, operates various stationary and portable equipment and imaging systems. The technologist rotates shifts and assignments as needed, including after‑hour on‑call. The Senior Ultrasound Technologist assists in the training of fellows and students as assigned.
- Must possess A.R.D.M.S. and/or CCI certification.
- Must have at least two years of experience in cardiac ultrasound.
- Must have at least two years of experience in adult echocardiology.
- Ability to regularly travel locally to ambulatory clinic off‑site locations.
- Preferred:
Registered in pediatric echocardiography.
