Title: Lead, Registration Representative

Location: Laguna Hills, CA

Department: ER Admitting

Status: Full-time

Shift: Evening Monday 9:00am–7:30pm and Thursday, Friday, Saturday 4:00pm–2:30am.

Pay Range*: $22.41/hr – $32.50/hr

Position

Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with our core values:

The employee shall support Orange Coast Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. Working under the supervision of the Admitting Manager, the Admitting/ER/Breast Center Lead oversees the operations of his/her shift. The Lead will assist staff members when questions and issues arrive resolving them whenever possible and escalating them to the Admitting Manager as needed.

The Lead will assist with staff coverage for call outs on their shift. The Lead may be asked to assist with the department schedule. The Lead will assist in the training of new hires/transfers to the department and with follow-up training needs as identified. The Lead will promote Teamwork by setting an example of efficiency and excellent customer service with patients, clinicians and co‑workers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Adheres to policy of using two patient identifiers to ensure correct information appears on all documents, armbands and labels before placing the armband on the patient.
  • Avoids HIPAA violations by accurately entering information into the system avoiding passing on defects such as incorrect PCP, etc.
  • Interviews and registers patients timely and accurately with an appropriate level of expertise in Epic, RTE and on websites ensuring correct coding of insurance on accounts.
  • Ensures all registration forms are complete, accurate and scanned into Epic. Enters notes into the Referral or Auth/Cert as needed.
  • Participates in training new staff/transfers and continuing education of existing staff. Provides feedback to Manager of staff performance.
  • Collects and posts co‑pays and co‑insurance in Payment Navigator and Epic timely and accurately.
  • Participates and supports performance improvement activities, training, staff meetings and projects in the department.
  • Maintains accuracy of 95% or better.
  • Monitors/manages work queues assigned to them.
  • Works independently and with staff to handle issues that may arise in the department.
  • Adheres to the MHS time and Attendance policy #357. Clocks in and out appropriately in MTM.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the manager.

* Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications
  • Work Experience
  • Familiar with all aspects of Admitting, multi‑task oriented with ability to prioritize essential job functions
  • Knowledge of insurance and ability to identify group on the insurance card
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in hospital setting.
  • Previous Lead experience preferred.
  • Education:

    High School Graduate preferred
