Director of Financial Planning & IR
Salary Range: $180,000 - $210,000 per year
Reports to: CFO
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Director of Financial Planning and IR will play a critical role in leading Adagio Medical’s financial planning, forecasting and budgetary analytical processes as well as in supporting the investor relations function. This individual will be responsible for driving strategic financial insights, supporting executive decision-making, and fostering transparent, trusted communication with investors and analysts. The role requires a self-starter with exceptional communication skills, strong analytical capabilities and business acumen with the ability to translate complex data and insights into actionable insight in support of financial strategy and company performance.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required. An advanced degree or professional certification (CFA, CPA, MBA) is desired.
- Minimum of 7 years in a financial management role in a public company required.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable business insights.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and P&L.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, capital markets, and financial modeling.
- Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience with financial systems including Acumatica.
- Able to work effectively and independently while collaborating within cross-functional teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with a track record of building relationships and rapport across diverse teams.
- Strategic thinker with high attention to detail.
- Lead the annual operating plan, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial model, partnering closely with business and clinical leaders.
- Provide strategic financial analysis to support key initiatives, including product launches, clinical trials, and R&D investments.
- Develop dashboards and metrics to monitor business performance, capital efficiency, and key milestones.
- Deliver monthly management reporting and variance analysis to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Support capital allocation decisions and scenario modeling to evaluate growth and investment opportunities.
- Partner with Accounting to ensure alignment between operational results and reported financials.
- Support a proactive investor relations strategy in coordination with the CFO and CEO.
- Prepare earnings materials, investor presentations, Q&A documents, and press release financial content.
- Support quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, and non-deal roadshows.
- Maintain consensus model.
- Support investor conferences and maintain all relationships with IR vendors such as Nasdaq, Notified, and Business Wire.
- Conduct competitive intelligence to support both Investor Relations and Marketing teams, monitoring industry news and competitors' earnings calls.
- Monitor market trends, peer performance, and investor sentiment to guide messaging and positioning.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of competing companies and technologies.
- Ensure all external communications comply with SEC and Reg FD requirements.
- Collaborate with Clinical, R&D, and Commercial teams to ensure financial models reflect scientific and operational milestones.
- Work with internal teams and Legal to coordinate public disclosures and media messaging.
- Support board materials, fundraising activities, and strategic partnerships with robust analysis and financial insights.
- A verifiable background in accounting, strategic planning, and operational finance in a public company is essential for success in this role.
- Deep understanding of medtech business models, including clinical, regulatory, and commercialization drivers preferred.
- Motivated self-starter with a strong sense of responsibility and ownership, able to work both independently and as a collaborative team member.
