Qualifications:
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide for the competent application of instructional plans for an assigned class of students in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Become thoroughly familiar with the materials and instructions provided by the school system in the substitute teacher workshop.
- Meet and instruct all classes and duties normally assigned to the teacher for whom the substitute teacher is serving, or as directed by the administrator.
- Follow the teacher's plans and program of study using materials and equipment provided.
- Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner consistent with school rules and procedures.
- Maintain familiarity with the course of study as set forth in the county curriculum guides.
- Carry out the policies of the Troup County Board of Education as they relate to the school, to the classroom and to contacts with pupils and parents under the supervision of the local school principal.
- Cooperate professionally with all fellow workers and with the administration of the school.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Supervisor.
Daily attendance and punctuality are required to ensure the goals of the work unit are met.
Working Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally, the job requires 50% walking/standing and 50% sitting.
Substitute Teacher Pay:
High School Diploma - $70 per day
Associates Degree (transcripts required) - $73 per day
4 Year Degree or Higher (transcripts required) - $85 per day
Retired Certified Teacher (any county) - $106 per day
