Dock Workers are responsible for loading and unloading trailers for the purpose of transporting a wide variety of cargo, moving cargo, driving a forklift, or using a pallet jack or other freight handling equipment for transit. They operate mobile technology, complete all required paperwork, and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
Responsibilities- Effectively operate mobile technology.
- Load and unload trailers for the purpose of transporting a wide variety of cargo.
- Actual duties and schedule may vary depending on terminal location.
- Perform equipment preventive maintenance in accordance with ABF's program.
- Move cargo, drive forklift, and use pallet jack or other freight handling equipment.
- Prepare freight for transit.
- Complete all required paperwork.
- This is a casual position; employees must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and on an as‑needed basis.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Have a stable work record.
- Have a good safety record.
- Be able to pass pre‑employment drug screen and post‑offer company physical.
- Shift days and hours required for this position vary by location and may include days, nights, and/or weekends. Ability to work the required hours is considered a minimum requirement.
