Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a compact or LA RN license and at least two years of specialty experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit

• Care for patients with diagnoses such as chest pain, CAD, arrhythmias, DM, COPD, PNA, MI, renal failure, PE, CHF, GI bleed, syncope, and med-surg overflow including sepsis, CVA, and COVID

• Perform pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, vascular surgeries, and titration of cardiac drips

• Use telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs

• Night shift position with 12-hour shifts (18:45 - 7:15)

• Required to work every other holiday

• May be floated to all other inpatient units

• Emergency Team assignments may require remaining at facility during events or covering relief as directed

• Perform specialized care including isolation precautions and wound management

• First-time travelers with required experience are welcome

• Cannot guarantee specific scheduling requests such as block schedules

• Holiday coverage is required for every other holiday

• All mandatory modules completed during orientation and counted within orientation hours

• Must not have worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractor at Ochsner Health System within the past year

Requirements

• Active LA or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration

• Minimum of two years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required

• Current AHA BLS certification required

• Telemetry skills, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, are required

• Experience with blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, IV starts, port access, sheath removal, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips

• Applicants must live at least 65 miles from the facility

• Must have up-to-date NURSYS report (within four weeks of consideration)

• References from two Manager/Supervisors will be required for clearance (Charge RNs not accepted)
