Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a LA or compact RN license and strong telemetry skills.

• Work in a hospital-based MS/Tele unit with potential for Medical-Surgical overflow
• Care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, renal, and acute medical conditions such as chest pain, arrhythmias, CHF, PVD, MI, COPD exacerbations, PNA, GI bleed, renal failure, PE, and more
• Perform specialized procedures including pre/post cath lab care, sheath pulls, vascular surgeries, and drip titrations
• Utilize telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs
• Night shift, working three 12-hour shifts per week from 18:45 to 07:15
• Required to float to all inpatient units as needed
• Every other holiday coverage required
• No block scheduling or specific scheduling requests can be guaranteed
• RNs may be assigned to an Emergency Team and are required to remain on site during emergency events as designated by the unit manager
• First-time travelers are accepted if meeting the 2-year experience minimum
• All certifications must be from the American Heart Association
• Five-day orientation and completion of facility modules during orientation are required
• Must be separated from prior permanent staff or in-house contractor roles at this health system for at least 1 year to be considered
• Holiday coverage is required for every other holiday
• Facility does not accept local travelers and enforces a 65-mile radius rule

• Active LA or compact state RN license in hand at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Current BLS certification from AHA
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Experience with post-cardiac procedures, chest tubes, cardiac and vasoactive drips, isolation precautions, wound care, and line management
• Ability to start IVs and administer blood products
• Candidates must reside at least 65 miles from the facility
• Must provide two Manager or Supervisor references for contract clearance
