Job Details:

• Med/Surg position specializing in post-op GI and wound care

• Patient ratio of 6:1 for days, nights, and weekends

• 24-hour orientation required

• Weekend coverage required

• May receive Med Surg overflow patients

• Can be floated to all other inpatient units (agency floated first)

• Work with adult and geriatric patient populations

• 24-bed unit with daily census of 24 patients

• Post-op experience required with minimum 2 years acute care experience

• Must have experience working full time on a post-op unit

• Minimum of one travel contract completion required

• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA)

• Epic charting system experience preferred

• Must be comfortable with emergency team assignments during facility events

Skills required:

Telemetry monitoring, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, accessing/managing ports, central line blood draw, heparin administration, wound care/wound vac, blood product administration, PICC line management, IV starts and maintenance, PCA, surgical drains, chest tubes

• Equipment experience: PEG, PEJ, PCA, drainage tubes, wound vac, nephrostomy tubes, ostomy care

• Patient diagnoses include:
Pancreatitis, GI bleeds, bowel obstructions, wound infections, post-op infections

• Special procedures:
Pancreatectomy, Whipple, bariatric surgery, thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hepatic resection

• Must live over 65 miles from facility location

• Louisiana nursing license required upon submittal
