Job Details:

• 6:1 patient ratio for days, nights, and weekends

• 12-hour orientation provided

• Work with adult and geriatric patient populations

• 24-bed unit with 24 daily census

• Every other holiday coverage required

• Weekend coverage required

• May be pulled to all other inpatient units (agency nurses pulled first)

• No guaranteed specific scheduling requests (block scheduling not available)

• Must accept emergency team assignment during events and stay at facility until event passes

• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIHSS, Telemetry

• Louisiana nursing license or compact license required upon submission

• 2 years of Med Surg Tele experience required

• Must live over 65 miles from facility (no local travelers)

• NURSYS report required within 4 weeks of submission

• Care for patients with chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, diabetes, COPD, pneumonia, hypertension, MI, renal failure, pulmonary embolism, CHF, GI bleeding, and syncope

• Perform pre/post cardiac catheterization care, pacemaker/AICD procedures, ablations, vascular surgeries

• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, and Heparin

• Perform bedside sheath removal

• Manage telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs

• Skills include dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-angiogram care, port accessing, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, IV management, isolation precautions, and wound care

This medical center operates a comprehensive cardiac telemetry unit providing specialized care for patients with cardiovascular conditions and medical-surgical overflow. The facility features a 24-bed unit with full interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and social services. The organization maintains high standards for emergency preparedness and may require staff participation in emergency response teams during critical events.
