Travel RN - Med​/Surg Tele

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 18 months of experience, telemetry skills, and night shift availability with every other weekend commitment.

Job Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit in an acute care hospital setting,

• Patient population includes primarily medical cases such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, COVID-19, chest pain, and small bowel obstruction, with a smaller surgical caseload including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, colectomy, mastectomy, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy,

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6,

• Telemetry monitoring experience required,

• IV start skills required,

• Cerner EMR - experience required,

• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:00-06:30,

• Every other weekend required,

• Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required,

Job Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand,

• Current ACLS and BLS required - AHA and RQI formats accepted,

• Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required,

• Telemetry experience required,

• IV start proficiency required,

• Cerner charting experience required,

• Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program required,

• Local candidates are not accepted for this position,

• Indiana-licensed RNs are not eligible for this Med/Surg Tele position per facility policy (IN RN travelers are only permitted in Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN roles),

• Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler,

• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays,

• RTO of 5 days or fewer may be approved,
