Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with at least 18 months of acute care experience and an active IN or compact RN license for a hospital-based contract.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Medical Surgical unit caring for orthopedic, GYN, urology, neurosurgery, and general medical patients

• Patient populations include post-neurosurgery, total joint replacements, orthopedic trauma, ENT, and common medical diagnoses such as COPD, pneumonia, UTI, cellulitis, and bowel obstructions

• Responsibilities include pre/post neuro surgery care, continuous bladder irrigation, chest tube management, and IV starts

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias preferred

• Day shift position with 3x12 hour shifts from 6:00 to 18:30

• Charting is completed using Cerner;
Cerner experience required

• Travelers are required to float within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals

• All travelers must be prepared to float as needed within hospital and to affiliated facilities

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Local candidates are not accepted for this position

• Must be willing to work at least two out of three major holidays

• Perm or PRN employees must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before traveling

• Free parking is available

• A break in service may be required for past IU Health travelers based on prior travel assignment history

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license in hand at time of application; pending licenses not accepted

• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg acute care RN experience required

• Current BLS certification required; NIHSS and ACLS preferred

• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program required

• IV start proficiency required

• Experience in Trauma Level I-IV, ortho trauma, and neuro preferred

• Two supervisory references required for consideration

• SSN and date of birth required at time of application
