Position: 3rd shift, Welding Coordinator, 10HR Rear Frames- North Plant

Overview

At Wabash, Welders perform a variety of tasks that vary by location. Welders have a key role in the manufacture of carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum products and subassemblies. Welders are a crucial position in the manufacturing process and are expected to produce high-quality work while upholding production standards. Qualification Weld Tests are required, and in some cases Certification Tests depending on the product line.

Applicants who do not pass the initial Weld Test can be qualified by attending our in-house Weld School, demonstrating that they can pass the Weld Test after training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for:

Primary duty is to assist the supervisor to meet production goals. Perform a variety of semiskilled manual duties requiring knowledge of techniques, tools, equipment, and safety precautions. Adhere to and enforce the general safety plan. May be required to perform other duties as requested by the supervisor. Primary job functions require exercising independent judgment. Ensure work is performed to a quality level consistent with Wabash National standard practice.

Supervised by supervisor, general foreman, manager, or department head. Good attendance is critical; coordinator must report all absences directly to the supervisor. Must be willing and able to work overtime.

Qualifications
  • Must have both written and verbal communication skills.
  • High School degree or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred for this position.
  • Good people skills required.
  • Must have ability to learn and run required computer applications.
  • Possess required math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Must have ability to understand and apply engineering specifications, Change Orders, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Good problem-solving skills required.
  • Must currently be a level 3 welder.
Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience

Experience and education are beneficial but not required. Wabash provides training to prepare you for the Welding Coordinator position. Upon receiving an offer letter, you will undergo orientation and several days of training for the production floor.

Physical Demands

As a Welding Coordinator, you are regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, and handle and operate tools or controls for the length of your shift. The employee needs full range of motion in the arms and hands. Some coordinators may work in small spaces and frequently lift and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and good hand-eye coordination.
