Position: 3rd shift, Welding Coordinator, 10HR Rear Frames- North Plant

At Wabash, Welders perform a variety of tasks vary from location to location. Welders have a key role in the manufacture of carbon, stainless steel and aluminum products and subassemblies. Welders are a crucial position in the manufacturing process and are therefore expected to produce high-quality work while upholding production standards. We require Qualification Weld Tests and, in some cases, Certification Tests depending on the product line.

Applicants that do not pass the initial Weld Test can be qualified by attending our own in-house Weld School, demonstrating that they can pass the Weld Test after training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for:

Primary duty is to assist supervisor to meet production goals as outlined by the supervisor. To perform a variety of semi‑skilled manual duties requiring knowledge of techniques, tools, equipment, and safety precautions. To adhere to and enforce the general safety plan. May be required to do other duties as requested by supervisor. Primary job functions require exercising independent judgment. Ensures work is performed at a quality level consistent with Wabash National standard practice.

Supervised by supervisor, general foreman, manager, or department head. Good attendance is critical, and coordinator is required to report all absences directly to supervisor. Must be willing and able to work overtime.

  • MIG Welder (GMAW – including Pulse Transfer)
  • TIG Welder (GTAW)
  • Possible limited Stick Welder (SMAW)
  • Plasma Cutter / Gouging
  • Grinder / Sander
  • Respirator / ADF or PAPR Hood
Qualifications
  • Must have both written and verbal (give instructions) communication skills.
  • High School degree or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred for this position.
  • Good people skills required.
  • Must have ability to learn and run required computer applications.
  • Possess required math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Must have ability to understand and apply engineering specifications, Change Orders, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Good problem‑solving skills required.
  • Must currently be a level 3 welder.
Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience

Experience and education are great to come into this position with. However, it’s not required, here at Wabash, we give you the training to become comfortable in any Welding Coordinator position. Upon receiving an offer letter from us, you’ll undergo orientation and several days of training, preparing you for the production floor.

The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites such as the noise level in the work environment can be very loud with high temperatures  employees on the production floor must wear the necessary personal production equipment (PPE).
