Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer 3 to join Caterpillar’s team in Lafayette, IN. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring manufacturing process efficiency, driving process improvements, and supporting shop floor operations. You will work closely with technicians, identify process gaps, and develop solutions to improve productivity and quality.

$32.00/hr - $35.00/hr

• Identify and resolve issues in the manufacturing process.
• Develop and maintain assembly processes and work instructions.
• Conduct planned method audits by reviewing documentation and observing shop floor personnel.
• Detect and document potential deficiencies in processes and ensure corrective actions are followed through.
• Support control plan execution and ensure compliance to standards.
• Review and interpret blueprints/drawings to support manufacturing activities.
• Provide technical support on gage and torque tooling (fixture gages, quick wrenches, transducer tools).
• Collaborate with shop floor technicians and operations teams to implement solutions quickly and effectively.

• Education & Experience:
• Associate Degree with 10+ years of experience, OR
• Bachelor’s Degree with 5–7 years of experience (
  preferred
  ), OR
• Master’s Degree with 3–5 years of experience.

• Strong blueprint/drawing reading capability.
• Hands-on experience with gage and torque tools

• Ability to conduct method audits and document results.
• Skilled in identifying documentation errors and resolving them quickly.
