Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist with at least 18 months of acute hospital OT experience to join an inpatient acute care rehab team serving patients with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities- Work in an inpatient acute care rehabilitation setting within a hospital environment
- Serve patients across all levels of acuity, including ICU and progressive care units
- Patient population includes cardiac, orthopedic, neurologic, respiratory, and complex medical cases such as CABG, stroke, TBI, joint replacements, dementia, MS, and Parkinson’s
- Day shift position, Monday through Friday, with one weekend day per month required
- Required to float within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
- Cerner EMR charting is required
- Responsibilities include evaluation, development, and implementation of plans of care involving ADL training, therapeutic exercises, and discharge recommendations
- Work as part of an inpatient rehab team of 19 professionals
- Royal blue scrubs and black shoes are required
- First-time travelers are welcome
- Must be prepared to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of requested time off may be auto-approved
- Past permanent or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Current Occupational Therapist license in IN or Compact state, or eligibility if applicable
- Active BLS certification from AHA or RQI accepted
- NBCOT certification required
- Minimum 18 months of recent occupational therapy experience in an acute hospital setting
- Manual Therapy and Lymphedema certifications/licenses preferred
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited university is required
