Project Management Intern - Data Center Project Opportunity
Huston Electric is seeking motivated part-time summer interns (and/or year-round part-time interns) pursuing degrees in Construction Management or related fields. This is more than an internship. It is a chance to step onto a high-level data center project and gain real-world experience working alongside a seasoned electrical contractor known for delivering high quality work.
If you are eager to learn how major projects operate behind the scenes and want hands-on exposure to scheduling, coordination, modeling, and field operations, this role offers a front-row seat to the action.
Pay: $15-$17/hour
Location:
Based out of our Lafayette, IN office and surrounding job sites
Schedule:
Monday-Friday between 7:00 AM-5:00 PM (flexible within that range)
General Requirements
- Major in construction management related field.
- Ability to report to the Lafayette, IN area and job sites in the surrounding area.
- General skills: problem solving, communication, time management, understanding verbal & written instructions and willingness to learn a variety of duties.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Responsible for assisting the Huston Electric Project Management Team in many ways, on projects of all sizes. Help Huston maintain a good relationship with GC's, CM's and owners.
- Attend project kick-off meetings.
- Develop schedule of values for projects.
- Assist or prepare submittals for projects.
- Build Submittal database for variety of project types.
- Learn and understand day to day electrical materials.
- Assist or purchase materials for projects.
- Establish and maintain current client and potential client relationships.
- Manage quality control programs.
- Prepare a variety of status reports, including manpower usage, change orders, follow-up, and adherence to goals using company forms.
- Coordinate with safety director to achieve company goal of zero lost time accidents.
- Track rough-in installation times for bidding purposes.
- Build project schedules, 2-week outlook and entire job.
- Manage and complete closeout documents, O&M manuals and
- Coordinate shipping schedules and delivery of merchandise and services
- Create DCR's/THA's for foreman on projects
- Revit BIM Modeling assistance.
- Trimble MEP layout design assistance.
- VDC meeting management per project along with clash detection clean up for MEP design
- AutoCAD design for Prefab layout
