Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (little to no OT)
Travel: 0–25% (occasional day trips)

Position OverviewThe Mechanical Engineer 2 will support global manufacturing operations for large 3500 DGB (Dynamic Gas Blending) and diesel engines within the 3500 Machine Engine product team. This role focuses on hands-on factory support
, acting as the primary engineering liaison for assembly and production-related issues. The engineer will collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, and design teams to resolve production challenges, support engineering changes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a production support engineering role with frequent interaction on the factory floor.
Key Responsibilities- Provide engineering production support for assembly operations and manufacturing processes
- Serve as first point of contact for factory issues and coordinate resolution with appropriate engineering teams
- Conduct assembly fit-ups and provide feedback to design and manufacturing teams
- Manage and resolve Continuous Improvement (CI) cards, All Quality Events (AQEs), and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
- Evaluate design deviations and support implementation of engineering changes
- Support product build-up, testing activities, and quality holds as required
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and suppliers
- Review engineering drawings and 3D models to verify manufacturability and design intent
- Participate in Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives
- Maintain and update production drawings and documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
- 0–5 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production support environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable working in both office and factory environments
- Experience with diesel engines, heavy equipment, or industrial machinery
- Experience supporting manufacturing or assembly operations
- Proficiency with Creo or similar 3D modeling tools
- Familiarity with Teamcenter or SAP systems
- Exposure to engineering change processes and continuous improvement initiatives
- Problem solving and critical thinking
- Strong communication and collaboration
- Mechanical aptitude and technical judgment
- Adaptability and work ethic
- Advanced degrees (MS or PhD)
- Design-only engineering backgrounds
- Research-focused or simulation-heavy profiles
- Candidates without manufacturing or plant exposure
