Base pay range

$50,000.00/yr - $50,000.00/yr

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Principal, the PSOE Recovery Teacher will maintain a continuous learning environment for students in Recovery, a tiered MTSS‑based student behavioral support system. They will provide direct instruction and feedback to students. Additional responsibilities include maintaining compliance with Individual Student Education Plans, Section 504 Plans, etc. They will ensure operational and functional knowledge of best practices in education, state and federal education law, FERPA and FAPE law, parent relations, behavioral management, documenting and reporting, and process‑driven accountability.

They will assist in behavioral management and school culture for students, staff, and parents. They will develop and maintain behavior support plans which utilize strategies based on Functional Behavior Assessments. The PSOE Recovery Teacher will work alongside other school personnel, striving for superior performance to provide the best possible opportunities for student growth and development, both educationally and personally.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure continued learning while a student is in Recovery by supervising independent work time and providing one‑on‑one tutoring and feedback.
  • Ensure academic proficiency of each student during behavioral support.
  • Participate in on‑going academic professional development as directed and appropriate.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to prepare standards‑based work that aligns with the week’s curriculum. Be prepared with additional standards‑based work for each student when assignments finish early.
  • Provide direct instruction in small group and individual settings.
  • Utilize data‑driven instruction and PSOE educational frameworks to deliver standard’s driven instruction to all students.
  • Utilize oversight by team leads, Special Education Director, MLL Director, school counselor, and other subcontracted professional staff/outside agencies as needed to identify and understand strategies for support and instruction of students with exceptional needs.
  • Ensure appropriate classroom implementation of BIPs, FBAs, ILPs, IEPs, and 504 programs.
  • Complete reports and follow‑up documentation as required by administration.
  • Contribute to a strong school education team, serve on school and/or community committees, and seek participation and involvement with direction for ongoing local operations.
  • Assist as directed in the management of front‑line parent communication for behavior and attendance.
  • Assist as directed in facilitating communication between personnel, students, and/or parents to follow school discipline, dress code, Recovery, attendance, and behavioral frameworks, solving problems, and/or resolving conflicts.
  • Assume all roles as delegated for a variety of staff functions to manage the day‑to‑day workload more efficiently.
  • Maintain ongoing, consistent communication and documentation with PSOE leadership, ensuring that direct and detailed communication using a chain of command is consistent, daily practice.
  • Assist with the PSOE daily duty and coverage schedules, including, but not limited to driveline, recess, lunch, and hall duties.
  • Follow all best practices in terms of legal, authorizer, and legislative guidelines, acting in the organization’s best legal interests.
  • Maintain a professional physical and digital presence through community meetings, representative appearances, appropriate social media use, and appropriate dress at school‑sponsored events.
Human Resources Planning and Management
  • Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment per all appropriate legislation and regulations, including FERPA, FAPE, Section 504, and IDEA.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Valid Indiana State Teaching License or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of education.
