We are currently seeking a PRN
Support Staff Technician for River Bend Hospital located in West Lafayette, Indiana. This position will work every other weekend 8 am - 8pm also with availability needed of 4p-8p during weeknights.

  • Welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
  • Assesses visitors for emergency/crisis needs and provides assistance while awaiting appropriate clinical staff intervention.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department.
  • Takes and delivers messages or transfers calls to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
  • Receives emergency calls, takes information, directs calls to appropriate clinical staff, and documents calls.
  • Makes public address announcements and pages and calls codes as requested.
  • Answers general informational questions about RBH and provides callers with address, directions, and other information.
  • Monitors visitor access, signs in visitors, issues required passes to all visitors and contractors, and informs visitors about visiting hours, rules, and restrictions and completes with the visitor the Visitor Agreement form.
  • Inventories valuables from patients on admission and records and stores them, and documents return of valuables at discharge.
  • Makes entries in the electronic medical record documenting admission and discharge dates and times.
  • Prepares accurate and timely correspondence, reports, minutes and forms, performs other clerical duties as needed, such as scanning, entries in electronic medical record.
  • Receives calls for admission requests from other hospitals, police, courts, etc., required information, and forwards these to the social worker, therapist, or doctor on call for action and liaisons with referring agency.
  • Maintains a room use schedule for the River Bend building and takes requests for rooms.
  • Responds to fire alarms, tornado alerts, and other emergencies per policies and procedures.
  • Pursues training and development opportunities by attending workshops and seminars to remain current with job responsibilities.
  • Responds promptly to customer needs; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments.
  • Focuses on solving conflict. Maintains confidentiality. Listens to others without interrupting.
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations listens and gets clarification.
  • Responds appropriately to questions relevant to the position. Refers questions to appropriate departments or supervisor.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities. Gives and welcomes feedback. Contributes to building a positive team spirit; supports everyone’s efforts to succeed.
  • Participates in the Organization’s Quality Improvement Program.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as assigned.
We are seeking candidates with the following qualities:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of previous office experience preferred.
