These positions are especially appealing to students and young adults interested in careers involving education, psychology, sociology, and working with the public. However, applicants from all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

- Maintains constant surveillance of anyone in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Eligibility and Expectations- Must be 16 years of age or older by the start of camp
- Must have a current Lifeguard Certification from a recognized source of training
- Must be CPR/First Aid certified from a recognized source of training
- Must attend the mandatory staff meeting on May 29, 2026
- Must complete all required student safety and child protection trainings (licensing requirements) before June 1, 2026
- Summer Camp Dates:
June 1 – July 24, 2026- Minimum commitment: 2 weeks (not necessarily consecutive)
Work hours:
8:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. (camp begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.)
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergencies
- Demonstrated skill in lifeguarding, surveillance, and rescue techniques
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation, as required by the department
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Ability to complete routine administrative and safety-related paperwork accurately
- Knowledge of emergency medical procedures and first aid response
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions consistently and responsibly
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic summer camp environment
- Strong judgment and the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Ability to work positively with children and adults from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to identify and respond to potentially hazardous conditions
Demonstrates a strong commitment to teamwork, accountability, and personal responsibility
Compensation- Hourly rate:
Starting at $18.50 to $19.50 per hour
Summer Camp Lifeguard positions are temporary and not eligible for benefits
Available PositionsDawson has several Summer Camp Lifeguard positions available. Roles are filled on a first-come, first-served basis
