Role Summary
This is a field-based and remote opportunity supporting key accounts in an assigned geography. Novartis is unable to offer relocation support for this role and does not sponsor visas for this position. The Director, Oncology Priority Accounts will be customer-facing, leading major accounts and improving market access for the product portfolio by implementing brand strategies with key national and regional customers to achieve targets and gain market share.
Duties include managing relationships with senior partners at target accounts, understanding their needs, and crafting and carrying out business plans to deliver mutually advantageous solutions.
- Understand the needs of the customer at all levels from departments to C-suite, leveraging insights to anticipate and articulate business priorities to deliver outcomes.
- Craft strategic approaches to further Novartis goals, fostering key customer relationships that enhance interaction with the account.
- Lead strategy and execution prior to and during launch, coordinating collaboration among headquarters, account, and regional leadership teams.
- Engage with account executives at the C-suite and D-suite levels, acting as the main oncology contact to facilitate exchanges with executives and headquarters.
- Foster cross-department collaboration to involve various functional areas and establish connections with stakeholders to proactively solve problems.
- Own account performance across the portfolio with a performance-driven mindset and seek opportunities to impact demand generation and achieve account performance.
- Facilitate efficient communication between Novartis and key accounts, with internal teams and other sectors, relaying strategic changes to inspire teams to adapt.
- Manage several high-priority accounts, with at least one notably complex and highly visible.
- Required: Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university.
- Required: 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or similarly structured industries with large, geographically dispersed teams; including at least 2 different cross-functional roles and/or experiences.
- Required: 2+ years in project management and translation of strategy into execution.
- Required: 2+ years leading complex projects requiring cross-functional and national alignment.
- Required: Track record of exceptional performance, strong influencing skills, and the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in stressful situations.
- Required: Residence within the territory or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 100 miles from the territory border; travel 60-80% over a broad geography is required; valid driver’s license.
- Preferred: 3+ years in account management covering Academic Medical Centers, Integrated Health Systems, GPOs, and/or large community oncology networks.
- Preferred: Experience in oncology therapeutic area, providing insight to support meaningful impact for patients and partners.
