Job OverviewUndertakes and leads investigating, analyzing, and correcting problems of supplier parts through collaborative partnerships within the company and with suppliers to ensure the incoming quality functionality of these parts.
Responsibilities- Assesses unusual circumstances, suggests variations in approaches, and interprets incomplete or conflicting data.
- Assists with tests (e.g., contouring accuracy, chemical-physical interactions) and checks on the interaction of single parts to ensure functionality; explains information to audiences who are not familiar with the subject.
- Ensures implementation and execution of problem solving for often unclearly defined parts problems with insufficient information.
- Exercises judgement in the evaluation, selection, and adaption of both standard and complex techniques and procedures.
- Initiates the Q:
HELP escalation process. - Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings; organizes and leads supplier meetings in case of parts issues. Initiates, under general guidance and direction, further escalation steps.
- Plans independently all required quality-relevant activities during the claim process, including requesting and approving 8D reports from the supplier, and ensures sustainable actions to avoid failures in the future.
- Prepares tests with interdependencies and ensures test process suitability; interprets test results in relation to the existing problem and necessary measures.
- Prepares independently claims and complaints of parts issues to the supplier, coordinates with other departments and the supplier touchpoints, and supports sorting and rework optimization in the supply chain.
- Supports analysis (e.g., noise, vibration) and collaborates on solutions with other departments and vendors.
- Supports concepts and initiates actions to improve products and/or processes with vendors and monitors effectiveness.
- Uses complex QM methods (e.g., risk management of production processes and parts, reliability forecast) and failure analysis. Organizes and performs process audits at the supplier's site as lead process auditor.
- Verifies facts in the event of damages in production or during delivery of new goods. Clarifies costs schedules and resulting claims with suppliers and participates in negotiations.
- Technical university degree in mechanical engineering, vehicle technology, electronics or other comparable training.
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Management and Series Quality Assurance as well in other production-related units, Development, Planning, and/or Technical Procurement.
- Able to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Knowledge in the application of complex quality methods.
- Experience in the area of supplier management.
- Strong command of spoken and written English.
- Good knowledge of spoken and written German is beneficial.
- Good knowledge of spoken and written Spanish is desirable.
- Ability to work in teams; people and persuasion skills.
- Multicultural awareness to appropriately deliver messages; assertiveness in difficult situations and knowledge of current moderation and presentation techniques.
- Quick comprehension of unknown processes and their dependencies.
