Position: Regional Sales Manager (Technical Sales) — Mechanical or Chemical Engineer

PROTEGO USA is seeking a Mechanical or Chemical Engineer who has built a career in technical, consultative outside sales
. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys customer-facing work, understands industrial processes, and can translate technical requirements into practical, compliant solutions.

You’ll support PROTEGO regional technical sales teams and lead Manufacturer’s Representative companies in assigned territories, including rep onboarding, training, performance management, and territory strategy. Customer engagement includes plant-level stakeholders, corporate engineering groups, and EPCs—via a mix of travel and virtual meetings.

What You’ll Do
  • Travel within assigned territory 50–60% of working time for customer and rep meetings
  • Lead and develop a Manufacturer’s Representative network (selection, training, performance, and—when needed—termination)
  • Conduct market research, project tracking, and target account planning
  • Deliver technical presentations and application consultation to plants, corporate engineering, and engineering firms
  • Build territory sales strategies aligned to PROTEGO global objectives
  • Develop working knowledge of relevant standards, including:
    API 2000, API 2521, NFPA 68/69/30/497, ISO 28300, ISO 16852
  • Support trade shows and regional events; coordinate with global marketing to drive attendance and lead follow-up
  • Partner with the Global PROTEGO Authorized Repair Center (PARC) team to identify and develop service partners in territory
  • Report territory plans, objectives, and opportunities to the Sales Manager and internal teams
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • Candidates without an engineering degree will not be considered.
  • 3+ years of outside sales experience selling a technical/engineered product or solution
  • Proven ability to deliver customer-facing technical presentations and build relationships at multiple levels
  • Comfortable operating independently with strong organization and follow-through
  • Willingness to travel 50–60%
Strongly Preferred
  • Experience in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, terminals/tank farms, vapor control, cryogenic or refrigerated bulk gas storage
  • Experience managing multi-territory strategy and/or a Manufacturer’s Rep network
  • Familiarity with safety/design standards and regulated environments (API / NFPA / ISO)
