Group Leader plans and implements developmentally appropriate programs and activities for school-age children and ensures member safety while focusing on five core program areas:
Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, the Arts, and Sports and Fitness. We are looking for individuals who can work a 6 am to 8 am shift, as well as individuals who can work 2 pm to 6 pm. The possibility of working both shifts is also available.
- Prepare Youth for Success:
Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes; promotes and stimulates program participation through age-appropriate day-to-day activities in accordance with established program expectations; assists in orientating new members to the Club's daily scheduling and program expectations (Be Safe, Be Kind, and Take Care); provides guidance, role modeling, and constructive feedback to members to promote development and skill building in program areas;
demonstrates leadership through safety and licensing best practices; continuously accounts for members in their assigned group by name, face, and written attendance; oversees and assists in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining program space and upkeep. - Program Development, Implementation and Supervision:
Effectively implements and administers programs, services, and activities; monitors and evaluates programs to ensure safety, quality, and presentation; ensures spaces are safe, well-ventilated, and well lit, and that equipment is maintained; evaluates programs continually, tracks outcome metrics, and verifies programs respond to member needs with attention to gender and cultural diversity; documents problems or issues via injury/incident reports; communicates with child care licensing and DCYF when applicable;
participates in special programs/events such as all-staff training days and staff meetings; facilitates professional communication with families, staff, and members; other duties as assigned.
- A group leader in a school-age program shall be at least 17 years of age, and have one of the following:
- Experience working with school-age children, totaling 600 hours;
- Documentation of at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or other field of study focused on children, awarded by an accredited college or university;
- Documentation that the applicant is a certified coach;
- Documentation of 5 years of parenting experience; or
- Documentation on file that they were qualified and employed as a group leader in a school-age program on or before the adoption of these rules in 2022.
- Knowledge of youth development; ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems; ability to communicate with parents/guardians; ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth; ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications to meet licensing requirements.
- Occasional travel for meetings/training may be required; may be asked to drive Club van/short bus occasionally (21+); must possess a safe driving record and submit it to the Operations Director or human resources.
- All candidates will submit to FBI fingerprint background checks and state background checks; the NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit employment for disqualifying findings; we reserve the right to determine employment status.
- Zero-tolerance policy for abuse; any mistreatment or abuse will result in disciplinary action up to termination and cooperation with law enforcement.
