Job Description
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports Plasma Center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. The role reports to the Plasma Center Manager and operates under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues and the Center Manager for operational guidance.

About the RoleThe specialist must be familiar with plasma collection regulations or a manufacturing environment and provide center‑level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS). The role follows guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs and supports medical issues within the center.
How you will contribute- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent management, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions at the facility and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including emergency transport to care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine needed evaluation by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a graduate‑equivalent recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensed or certified in the state where duties are performed (LPN or LVN).
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State‑approved basic IV therapy training.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
