About the Position

This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Madigan Army Medical Center, CBMH Olympia Directorate of Branch Clinics Army Health Clinic Administration, located in Olympia, Washington.

• Serve as a recognized technical authority in Family Medicine and Urgent Care.
• Independently diagnose illnesses, prescribe treatments, and formulate evidence-based care plans.
• Perform crisis interventions and life-saving procedures when necessary.
• Promote preventive care, health maintenance, and patient education to encourage lifestyle changes.
• Collaborate with facility and community resources to deliver multi-disciplinary care.
• Apply new procedures and techniques in evaluating and treating complex cases.
• Conduct research to advance Family Medicine programs and improve care quality.
• Participate in Quality Assurance, peer review, risk management, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Offer guidance to other physicians and medical staff on urgent, emergent, and routine cases.
• Serve on committees, boards, and conferences to evaluate patient care and recommend corrective actions.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation including a credit check is required.
• This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
• Applicant will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• This position requires a pre-placement medical examination.
• This position requires moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
• Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced Life Support certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• This position requires Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or must be able to pass certification within 6 months of employment.
• This position requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or must be able to pass certification within 6 months of employment.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• Position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Tuberculosis Testing is required.
