Environmental Specialist
Location: La Verne, CA Duration: Temporary assignment, up to 6 months Schedule: 9/80 hybrid schedule, start time as early as 7:00 AM to 4:45 PM, every other Friday off Pay Rate: $54.86 to $59.55 per hour
We are supporting a temporary opportunity for an Associate Environmental Specialist to join a fast‑paced, team‑oriented Safety and Environmental group supporting water treatment and compliance operations in Southern California. This role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and perform wastewater sampling, packaging, chain of custody documentation, and shipping related to permit requirements
- Review analytical data, prepare reports, assess compliance with wastewater permits, and coordinate resampling when needed
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with environmental program requirements
- Participate in audits and assessments, document findings, and assist with corrective action development
- Investigate and document environmental incidents
- Research, analyze, and prepare documentation to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and minimize environmental impacts
- Prepare technical reports and deliver presentations as needed
- Coordinate internal review of external documents and compile comments
- Develop and maintain checklists, protocols, procedures, and manuals
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field and four years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of environmental science principles, environmental investigations, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with analytical protocols and scientific terminology used in water and hazardous material testing
- Ability to analyze and interpret laboratory data related to environmental investigations
- Understanding of water treatment and distribution processes and operations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work, exercise independent judgment, and work both independently and within a team
- Proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, and project management tools
- Local candidates within Southern California
- Defensive Driver Certification
