The primary responsibility of this position is to administer medication stores residents and assist with other aspects of their daily care and routine. As a Medication Technician, you embody our principle of Person-Centered care and support our mission statement through People, Passion, and Excellence by providing the highest standard of care and customer service. In assisted living and memory care, this role also ensures safety, promotes dignity, and supports engagement for residents with cognitive or physical challenges.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Six months of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Appropriate certification, as required by the state
• Previous experience in senior living preferred
• Attention to detail to administer and accurately record the administration of medications for residents as prescribed by the physician in accordance with established policies and procedures of Sunshine Retirement Living and applicable state/federal regulations
• Demonstrated ability to communicate politely and effectively (in English), both verbally and in writing, with residents and staff
• Meet state-related requirements (if applicable to position)
• Ability to work in a team setting and be a positive team player
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional approach with coworkers and residents
• Possess excellent customer and organizational skills
• Ability to work under time constraints with little supervision and meet department deadlines
• Training or willingness to train in dementia care practices, including redirection, validation, and behavioral support techniques
• Satisfactorily pass Sunshine’s and state-regulated criminal record clearance, health screening and TB clearance (if applicable)

• Provide residents with medication administration and treatment assistance according to healthcare provider’s orders
• Monitor health, safety, and well-being of the residents. Promptly report any changes in resident’s physical condition and/or behavior to Health Services Director or Health Services Coordinator
• Accurately maintain resident records regarding medication distribution, leisure activities, incidents, and observations
• Properly store medications and equipment and keep the medication room clean and orderly
• Ensure prescription label and storage procedures meet state standard
• Properly follow shift-change procedures and documentation
• Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and eating
• Support residents with memory loss by using patience, empathy, and specialized communication techniques
• Encourage and/or remind resident to participate in activities. Promote purposeful engagement that matches residents’ cognitive abilities and personal preferences
• Assist in keeping the environments safe and happy for residents
• Implement elopement-prevention and other safety measures specific to memory care residents
• Immediately respond to resident emergencies; provide first aid assistance; debrief and document incident following company procedures
• Accurately document medication administration, care provided, and observations in electronic health records per company policy
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
