General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow associates with respect, follows all company best‑practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks as assigned during all working hours and may be requested to perform additional tasks in specific situations to support customer service and operational goals.

Functions
  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment, keeps egress to emergency exits clear, and immediately reports or corrects unsafe conditions.
  • Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy, and is friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists customers – is register‑trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably. Greets all customers with eye contact, a smile, and “hello,” and says “thank you” at every transaction.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses, handling all customer issues courteously and escalating to store leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas) to maintain merchandise, customer, and team areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well‑maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor with urgency, merchandises items per best practice and monthly presentation guidelines, and enhances brand familiarity.
  • Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, the Shortage Highway, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguards confidential information, cash, and credit card information.
  • Follows all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, proper processing of each piece, and notification of leadership for disposals.
  • Follows all cash, check, credit card, void, and offline procedures, maintaining accuracy when handling bankable tenders.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and maximizes productivity by executing store best practices and minimizing steps in workflow.
