Medical Assistant (MA) - Part Time/Full Time
American Family Care is looking for a Medical Assistant to provide general nursing care to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
Responsibilities- Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs.
- Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
- Prepare equipment and aid physicians during patient examinations.
- Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and timely.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved nursing techniques.
- Maintain patient comfort and monitor needs.
- Start and maintain laboratory equipment; perform daily quality control.
- Maintain daily logs and document all lab work.
- Draw blood from finger, ear lobe, or vein and obtain samples aseptically.
- Conduct laboratory tests and document results.
- Respond to lab messages and call‑back requests.
- Utilize lab software and equipment per procedure.
- Collect specimens using approved equipment and procedures.
- Observe and record patient reactions; notify supervisor or physician if needed.
- Respond to life‑saving situations per nursing standards.
- Perform drug screening procedures per regulations.
- Administer immunizations appropriately.
- Prepare physician referrals and service pre‑certifications as needed.
- Document nursing history and physical assessments timely.
- Prep rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies.
- Maintain a clean and well‑stocked work area; manage laundry.
- Stock supplies weekly.
- Manage difficult and emotional customer situations.
- Rotate among clinical services such as lab or nursing.
- Maintain accurate patient charts and documentation.
- Observe safety and security procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions to management.
- Document patient messages in the electronic medical record system.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Medical Assistant Certification or registration.
- Previous medical clerical experience preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- High accuracy and detail orientation.
- Positive customer service skills.
- Well‑groomed appearance.
- Tactful interpersonal relationships.
Must be able to speak and hear clearly, maintain close vision, stand for extended periods, reach and bend, periodically lift and move items up to 10 pounds, and walk.
Work EnvironmentIndoor healthcare environment with moderate noise, potential exposure to blood borne pathogens, and requirement to wear appropriate PPE.
