Position SummaryJoin a dynamic critical care team as a Travel ICU RN in La Plata, MD (zip 20646). This travel nursing assignment places you in a 10-bed adult ICU where you'll care for complex, high-acuity patients and work alongside experienced interdisciplinary teams. Job Details- Location: La Plata, MD 20646 (Charles County) — near Washington, D.C. and the Chesapeake Bay region
- Role: Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) / Critical Care Nurse
- Setting: Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: March 30, 2026
- Shifts: Nights — 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Self-scheduling: Yes
- Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Beds: 10-bed ICU
- Travel Requirement: Travelers must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1850-$1950
- Minimum 2 years recent ICU / critical care nursing experience
- Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license (must be in hand at submission)
- BLS and ACLS (AHA only)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- CPI certification (The Calm Every Storm online accepted)
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Two satisfactory professional references required (1 supervisor/manager and 1 charge RN)
- Comfortable floating within specialty and to lower-acuity units as needed
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Previous charge RN experience and community hospital experience preferred
- Experience with ventilators, CRRT, arterial and central lines a plus
- Provide high-quality, compassionate critical care to adult and geriatric patients with complex diagnoses (sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, cardiac arrest, stroke, renal failure, GI bleed, COPD, and more)
- Monitor and manage advanced ICU equipment: ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, CRRT, and related devices
- Administer and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips, emergency medications, and IV insulin protocols
- Interpret and act on EKGs, ABGs, and dysrhythmias
- Support invasive procedures including intubation, chest tube insertion/removal, and post-operative care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, and physicians
- Adhere to strict infection prevention and isolation protocols
- Exposure to diverse, high-acuity critical care cases — great for advancing ICU skills
