AFSCME Salary Scale – UB Grades 16-17This is highly skilled work in the installation, configuration, operation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security management of data communications, and computer hardware and software within the school system. This position provides support to users in the use of software and personal computers. The work is performed under the supervision of the Technology Department.
Education and Work Experience- A bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in Information Technology or a related field is preferred.
- Five years of technically progressive, responsible work experience in local and wide area networks, user and help desk support, and or training in lieu of a BA/BS. Applicable industry certification (desired).
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Active Directory, Intune, and Cisco WAN networking systems.
- Thorough knowledge of the methods, hardware, software, and practices of the data processing technology.
- Experience in configuring Microsoft Windows Workstation. Ability to read, write, and work from technical specifications.
- Ability to prepare and deliver oral and written communications to large and small groups as well as individuals. Skill in the use of IT testing equipment and materials.
- Ability to troubleshoot and skill in the diagnosis of problems relating to the operation of information networks, and networked computer hardware and software systems.
- Ability to train administrators, teachers, and other computer analysts.
- Ability to prepare written technical reports and maintain adequate records of all work performed.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and/or commercial driver’s license.
- Ability to comply with all safety rules and regulations established by Charles County Public Schools.
- Performs highly skilled work in the installation, configuration, operation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security management of data communications, and computer hardware and software within the school system. Provides support to users in the use of software and personal computers.
- Responds to emergency duty assignments when required by supervisor. Implements technology standards, policies, and procedures.
- Serves as the technical point of contact.
- Collaborates with the school‑based instructional leadership team.
- Monitors remote and local networks to assure optimum response time and throughput.
- Attends training and work‑related seminars.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
- Collaborates with the school‑based Learning Resource Teacher.
- Provides support for online testing.
- Maintains accurate inventory records and records of all work performed.
- Provides guidance and training to the Computer Analysts, Computer Analysts II, and temporary Computer Analysts.
- Identifies and creates automated procedures to improve efficiency.
- Assists the LAN team with server maintenance and automated tasks.
- Assists the WAN team with Cisco network maintenance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) weights of 10 to 50 pounds or more. Requires good hand‑eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard.
The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
