Senior Compliance Coordinator – Petroleum Systems Location: La Plata, MD (Hybrid)
Pay: $85,200 – $106,500 annually + up to 10% annual bonus
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST

Wills Group is seeking a Senior Compliance Coordinator – Petroleum Systems to ensure our fuel operations remain compliant, safe, and operationally efficient across our growing retail network. In this role, you will manage regulatory compliance for underground storage tank (UST) systems and petroleum fueling infrastructure across the organization while partnering with operations teams and third‑party vendors to support safe fuel operations across the Mid‑Atlantic.

What

you’ll do
  • Maintain underground storage tank (UST) system records, databases, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local petroleum storage regulations.
  • Oversee tank and line testing, leak detection systems, monitoring software, and related compliance requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and ensure company policies remain aligned with current laws.
  • Coordinate environmental compliance activities across company facilities.
  • Maintain storage tank databases and manage testing schedules and documentation.
  • Identify improvements in leak detection systems, compliance software, and testing technology.
  • Support dispenser, POS, and fueling system service requests when necessary.
  • Represent Wills Group within industry groups and assist with compliance training initiatives.
  • Support acquisitions, new projects, and technology upgrades related to fueling systems.
  • Assist with annual compliance budgets and track expenses against plan.
What we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, business administration, or related field preferred. Alternatively, a high school diploma/GED with progressively responsible compliance experience.
  • Experience working with underground storage tank systems and leak detection programs.
  • Knowledge of petroleum storage regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing regulatory databases and reporting requirements.
  • Experience coordinating third‑party vendors performing testing and inspections.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel using a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
Ideal candidate
  • Experience implementing new compliance technologies or leak detection systems.
  • Ability to track regulatory changes and update corporate policies.
  • Strong organizational and documentation management skills.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance best practices and industry standards.
Availability and travel
  • Hybrid schedule with in‑office days typically Tuesday–Thursday at our La Plata headquarters.
  • Regular travel within Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and the Carolinas.
  • Occasional overnight travel for training, conferences, or meetings.
  • Because we support a 24/7 retail operation, occasional off‑hours communication may be required.
