Job Description & How to Apply Below

This role requires a hands-on professional who can handle the technical demands of installing, de-installing, aligning, and preparing complex machinery—including CNC equipment—for transport and recommissioning.

Responsibilities
  • Safely install, de-install, and relocate CNC and industrial equipment for a variety of clients, including aerospace, medical, manufacturing, and defense industries.
  • Conduct full machine diagnostics and condition reports before decommissioning, documenting any operational issues or special handling requirements.
  • Disassemble complex machines with attention to sequencing, component labeling, and protection of sensitive elements (ball screws, spindles, wiring looms, etc.).
  • Label and organize wiring, hydraulic lines, and hardware to ensure a smooth and error-free recommissioning process.
  • Utilize precision tools (such as laser alignment systems, optical tooling, dial indicators, and machinist levels) to align, level, and calibrate machines post-move.
  • Interpret mechanical, electrical, and fluid schematics to aid in both de-installation and reinstallation.
  • Troubleshoot CNC and PLC-controlled equipment, verify control logic, test motor function, and assist with I/O checkouts during recommissioning.
  • Work directly with rigging crews to plan critical lift paths, machine orientation for egress, and safe removal under tight clearances or height restrictions.
  • Oversee or assist in crating, blocking, and bracing machinery for over-the-road transport, ensuring compliance with DOT safety standards.
  • Prepare machines for transport by ensuring fluids are drained, moving parts are locked out, and high-precision components are protected against vibration or moisture.
  • Coordinate with electricians, millwrights, and outside vendors on complex power drops, disconnects, and reconnections.
  • Assist in start-up and recommissioning procedures, including program loading, zero return, spindle warm-up, and part test verification when required.
  • Serve as technical liaison to customers, explaining work performed and helping resolve installation or function issues.
  • Complete and submit accurate and timely documentation for all job activities, including condition reports, punch lists, service checklists, time sheets, and sign-offs.
  • Help manage inventory of rigging and maintenance tools, identifying when service or calibration is needed.
  • Train and mentor apprentices or junior techs, enforcing company procedures and best practices on mechanical integrity and customer service.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, and overhead cranes in compliance with site-specific and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Enforce and model rigorous jobsite safety standards, including PPE usage, lockout/tagout procedures, confined space awareness, and lift planning.
  • Remain flexible and adaptable to highly dynamic job schedules and environments, with a willingness to travel and work extended hours when required.
  • Work with dispatch and project managers to provide real-time updates and change management when field conditions differ from the planned scope.
  • Provide feedback on customer sites to help the sales team develop accurate quoting, better timelines, and recurring service opportunities.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial machinery maintenance, installation, or CNC operations.
  • Strong understanding of basic CNC programming and diagnostics (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Skilled in using tools and equipment for aligning, leveling, and setting heavy machinery.
  • Comfortable working in a variety of industrial environments and on customer sites.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel locally or regionally as required.
  • OSHA 10/30 or other safety certifications are a plus.
Preferred Experience
  • Background in machine tool installation, millwright work, or rigging support.
  • Forklift or crane certification is a strong plus.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, safety-focused machinery-moving environment.
