What We Are Looking For

Pet Emergency & Specialty Center is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care Team. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play an important role in pets' lives by providing care for our patients in need. Your life-changing work will range from hands-on care of outpatient treatments and performing diagnostics, to support services including admitting for hospitalized treatments and discharging patients.

Responsibilities
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assist with hospital functions to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and treatment plans.
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a surgery veterinary technician
  • An active RVT license is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, surgical prep & sterile technique
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in anesthesia and analgesia (positive pressure ventilation, capnography, invasive blood pressure monitoring) and familiarity with a variety of surgical procedures and equipment
  • Excellent communication & problem-solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals
  • Experience with advanced imaging (CT, Fluoroscopy) preferred
  • Comfortable with anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I-III (preferred experience with ASA I-V)
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. and handle animals of all sizes
  • Strong understanding of surgical anatomy and aseptic technique
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
  • Familiarity with surgical instruments and procedures
  • Ability to respond to surgical or anesthetic emergencies
  • Able to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, SpO2, and EtCO2 and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention of patient care
  • Flexible schedule required, with potential for on-call and weekend shifts
