Treat patients as directed by a Physical Therapist. Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per PT Board requirements. Assist in maintaining the department and participate in Patient Care and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed. Help with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area. Follow the physician's treatment plan when treating patients. Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides. Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, issues, and plans.
Participate in in-service training programs for staff. Record treatment changes according to policies and procedures. Educate patients' families or nursing staff on maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services. Report any equipment issues to ensure proper maintenance. Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and effectively with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.
This position is non-supervisory.
Qualifications- Licensed as a Staff Physical Therapy Assistant in the state.
- Proficient in computer skills, including data entry into programs such as Casamba and Point Click Care.
- Ability to read technical procedures and understand policy and procedure manuals.
- Effective communication skills with managers, coworkers, and families.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret various instructions.
- Maintain a valid license in good standing with the state board, with ongoing continuing education.
Frequent standing and/or walking, occasional sitting, frequent reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, and hearing. Frequent tasting and smelling. Ability to exert significant force to move objects. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Good visual perception, including focus adjustment.
Work EnvironmentTypically low to moderate noise levels. Accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities. Management may reassign duties as needed.
