About the Division

We believe each child should receive individual attention, encouragement, support, and guidance. A variety of experiences are provided to develop the child's fullest potential. This includes preparing each child for the next step in their education journey. We have a strong commitment to the community, and involvement has been at the core of developing many social service programs offered through this agency.

Full Day and Part Day spaces are available for families who meet eligibility requirements. This full-year program provides care and educational services 12 months a year. We strive to serve all children and constantly seek ways to accommodate the unique needs of children with disabilities.

About the Position

Under the general direction of the Site Director, the Teacher plans, organizes, and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum for children enrolled in the Child Development program. The Teacher provides a safe and nurturing environment conducive to the growth and development of children. This includes instructing children in activities designed to promote social/emotional, physical health and safety, and cognitive growth. Prepares lesson plans and assessments for school-age or preschool-age children;

assists in planning programs and activities; and oversees assistants and volunteers in the classroom.

(Duties may include, but are not limited to the following):

  • Supports program planning for school-age and preschool-age children in preparation for their transition into the next grade level.
  • Oversees and supervises children, volunteers and staff in the classroom instruction and playground activities.
  • Develops and submits lesson plans by established policies and format.
  • Conducts formative and summative assessments using tools provided by the State and Child Development program. (D.R.D.P.)
  • Prepares and maintains a clean, safe, attractive, and positive learning environment
  • Administers routine first aid to students as needed; administers medication and medical procedures per specific medical instructions.
  • Facilitates the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for students with special needs
  • Participates in professional development and training as assigned; attends staff and other meetings as required.
  • Participates in all Child Development community family events outside of typical work hours, parades, performances, etc.
  • Maintains a variety of reports and records, including safety checklists, sign-in sheets, accident reports, attendance, and meal counts
  • May act for the Site Director in the absence of direct supervision
  • Plans and implements parent involvement activities:
  • Maintain regular parent communication through notes, HUBBE software, Class Dojo, phone calls, and parent conferences.
  • Develop positive public relations through communication and activities; involve parents and families in school activities; plan with other teachers and collaborating agencies to implement family activities.
  • Performs related duties and completes special projects as required.
Qualifying Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Child-development behavior characteristics of children ages 2.9 years – 12 years, related learning, emotional stages, and physical development.
