Job Summary

The Medical Assistant II Certified (MA II) supports the delivery of urological services and performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly. This position collaborates with staff within its practice or other professional disciplines within affiliated medical groups to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and desired patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Perform various administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a direct supervisor.
  • Coordinate appointments and schedule patients with physicians, nursing, and other staff members.
  • Allocate at least 50% of daily time to additional office responsibilities.
  • Greet and prepare patients.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform screening tests.
  • Assist physicians with examinations.
  • Perform phlebotomy and collect other lab specimens.
  • Perform basic lab tests.
  • Perform EKGs.
  • Assist with X‑ray and physician therapy procedures.
  • Prepare and administer medications with physician authorization.
  • Perform first‑aid procedures such as dressing changes, bandage application, and sutures removal.
  • Use CPR skills when necessary.
  • Prepare accurate, legal, and ethical documentation.
  • Open the office in the morning and close in the afternoon.
  • Maintain patient logs (Lab requests, CT scans, treatment orders).
  • Maintain prescription ledger.
  • Ensure back‑office flow, keep rooms full, and assist with room turnover.
  • Perform new‑patient comprehensive work‑up.
  • Add medical history to new patients and update established patient history.
  • Prepare room setup for physicians.
  • Verify medication updates before physician visits.
  • Set up in‑office surgical procedures.
  • Ensure proper consent forms are completed correctly.
  • Scribe as assigned per physician office flow.
  • Prepare for next day patient confirmations.
  • Complete medical record requests as needed.
  • Assist in orientation and training of new personnel.
  • Assist with other administrative projects and tasks.
  • Ensure proper handoff of responsibilities.
  • Meet attendance criteria and start work promptly.
  • Show punctuality and reliability.
  • Respect cultural diversity.
  • Use time and resources efficiently.
  • Adhere to HR and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and ethical standards.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations
  • Medical Assistant Certification or Registration required.

Education Requirements
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program.
Experience Requirements
  • 6 months experience in a physician’s office desired. Urology experience desired.
Required Travel

Minimal travel required.

Physical Demands

Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Occasionally lifting up to 100+ lbs. Frequent pushing/pulling lightweight equipment. Tasks involve standing, walking, and occasional stoop or bend motions. The position requires moderate physical activity throughout the day.
