Position: Benefits and Leave Coordinator (Hybrid-La Crosse, WI)

Hiring Salary Range: $68,800 - $103,200 Compensation is determined by a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, work experience, and certifications. The actual offer may vary, reflecting the candidate's unique blend of experience, educational background, and skill level.

Purpose: Supports the organization by administering employee benefits programs and leave of absence policies. Provide excellent customer service, technical and clerical support to employees regarding benefits and leave-related inquiries. Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information and ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations, all employee policies and union contracts.

Essential Job Functions
  • Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, supplemental plans, retirement plans and wellness programs.
  • Coordinate open enrollment processes, including employee communication, planning and updates to vendors.
  • Assist employees and leaders in understanding the organization’s benefits offerings and acts as a liaison between the organization and third-party benefits providers.
  • Conduct benefit orientations and manage enrollment deadlines.
  • Manage Dairyland’s leave administration including FMLA, short-term and long-term disability, and parental leave, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, proper tracking of documentation, coordination with third-party administrators, and outlining clear return-to-work plans.
  • Assist with annual compliance tasks such as preparing 1095 forms, conducting non-discrimination testing, and ensuring timely filing of related documents.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices with payroll deductions to ensure accuracy, which includes communication with accounting team for any adjustments needed.
  • Maintain accurate benefit records and files.
  • Prepare end-user documentation or training materials as needed.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge base of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FLSA, ADA and ACA as well as stay current with the Human Resources industry trends and strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field with a minimum of one (1) year experience in human resources. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered. Previous experience with employee benefits preferred. Professional HR certification preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent analytical thinking, investigative and problem-solving skills with the agility and flexibility to deal effectively with ambiguity and change
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Workday experience strongly preferred
  • An understanding of unionized work environment and the ability to work within collective bargaining agreements is preferred
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels, both internal and external
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
  • Ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Be aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislation and Dairyland policies and procedures
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
