Responsibilities
  • Produces high quality images for interpretation by physicians that meet the standards established by the Mayo Clinic Radiology Departments.
  • Requires competence, as determined by competency assessments, in a variety of imaging equipment and technology.
  • Practices proper safety guidelines for themselves, support personnel and patients.
  • Fosters teamwork through effective communication.
  • Ensures high level of service to patients through proper communication, technique, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintains flexibility to staff various work locations, shift times and lengths.
  • Performs other functional duties as assigned to assure efficient and optimal patient care.
Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited sonography or radiography program.

Additional Qualifications
  • Organized, efficient and multifunctional.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication.
  • Ability to work varied hours, shift lengths and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Ultrasound Sonographer experience preferred.
Licensing/Certification
  • Registry-eligible candidates must be ARDMS registered in either Vascular Technology (RVT) or RDMS (Abdominal or OB/GYN) within 6 months of employment (RVT preferred first) and both RVT and RDMS within 12 months of employment.
  • Third certification (Abdominal or OB/GYN) completed within 18 months of employment.
  • Breast imaging personnel must obtain RDMS (Breast) certification within 24 months of achieving competency.
  • Employees hired for a vascular sonography role who are not eligible to apply for Abdomen and OB/GYN certifications are exempt from that registries requirement.
  • BLS certified.

Schedule Details

Variable weekday shifts with a 1–2 holiday rotation. Position includes rotation to six outreach sites and the OB clinic as operational needs require. Weekend

Schedule:

This position will work weekends, PM shifts, and overnight shifts to provide coverage for employee PTO, leaves of absence, and other staffing gaps.
