Chief Financial Officer

The Role:
This CFO role focused on elevating the finance function into a strategic partner to the organization. The CFO will lead the evolution from a historically transactional finance structure into a modern, enterprise-level operation. This leader must be a visible, communicative people leader who can develop the team while driving strong financial execution and board-level strategy.

Role Highlights

• Lead and modernize the full finance function for a $35M-$40M nonprofit

• Drive strategic budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning

• Own cost allocation in a multi-program nonprofit environment

• Strengthen internal controls following rapid organizational growth

• Partner with Development on corporate and foundation donor strategy

• Serve as primary finance partner to the CEO, COO/Chief Development Officer, and Chief Programs Officer

• Present regularly to the Board and Finance and Investment Committee

Ideal Candidate

• Proven nonprofit CFO or senior finance leader with enterprise-wide ownership

• Strong cost allocation expertise in a multi-program nonprofit environment

• Experienced board-facing executive

• Strategic operator, not transactional

• High-EQ people leader

• Comfortable operating during budget pressure and funding mix change

Must Haves

• Senior nonprofit finance leadership experience

• Deep cost allocation and nonprofit accounting expertise

• Board and committee presentation experience

• Strong people leadership background

• Experience operating in budget-constrained or shifting funding environments

• ERP ownership and leadership experience (Net Suite is the current system)

Nice to Haves

• Prior experience partnering closely with Development on donor strategy

• Exposure to workforce development, housing, or mental health service organizations

• Experience stabilizing finance functions after rapid growth
