Activewear Designer

Role

Summary:

The  Activewear Designer  will design and develop performance-driven sportswear apparel and accessories aligned with brand aesthetics and market trends. The role involves trend research, material selection, technical design, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver functional, high-quality, and commercially viable active wear products.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:
Create innovative sportswear designs, including apparel and accessories that align with brand aesthetics and market trends.
Develop technical specifications, sketches, and prototypes for new products.
Collaborate with the product development team to ensure that designs meet performance, fit, and manufacturing requirements.
Trend Research:
Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, materials, and technologies in sportswear.
Analyze competitor products and consumer preferences to inform design decisions.
Stay updated on advancements in fabric technology, sustainable materials, and production techniques.
Material Selection:
Select appropriate fabrics, trims, and accessories that enhance the performance, durability, and style of the products.
Work with suppliers to source high-quality, innovative materials that meet design and functional requirements.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and production, to ensure alignment on design vision and product goals.
Present design concepts and collections to internal stakeholders and incorporate feedback into final designs.
Maintain clear and effective communication with manufacturers to ensure accurate production and quality control.
Technical Design:
Develop detailed technical drawings and specifications for each design.
Ensure that all designs meet the brand's fit, function, and performance standards.
Oversee sample development, fittings, and revisions to ensure that the final product meets design intent.

Required Skills:

Good knowledge of fabric material, design details and fabric construction.
Produce sketches, mock-ups, and digital renderings to bring design concepts to life.
Understanding of application of fabrications and an assortment of trims.
Collaborate with internal teams to Design innovative and on-trend apparels and accessories goods that resonate with our target audience.

Candidate qualifications:
Degree in Fashion, similar related field.
Strong understanding of performance apparel, fit, and functional requirements in sportswear.
2+ years of experience in ACTIVEWEAR/SPORTSWEAR.
Ability to interpret fashion trends and translate them into commercial designs.
Sound knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator a must.
Experience in CLO 3D and V Stitcher will be added advantage.
Advanced visual and written communication skills.
Some to advanced knowledge of fabrics across categories.
