Career Exploration Teacher/ Workbase Learning – Career and Technical Center (CTC)

The Career Exploration Teacher provides middle or early high school students with structured exposure to a wide range of career and technical pathways offered at the Career and Technical Center. This position focuses on helping students identify interests, aptitudes, and strengths while building foundational employability skills, career awareness, and informed decision‑making about future CTC programs, postsecondary education, and workforce opportunities.

• Deliver engaging, age‑appropriate career exploration instruction aligned to CTC programs, local workforce needs, and state career readiness standards
• Introduce students to multiple career clusters, trades, and technical fields through hands‑on activities, simulations, project‑based learning, and industry‑aligned lessons
• Collaborate with CTC program instructors to design exploratory modules that reflect authentic skills and real‑world applications
• Support students in identifying career interests using assessments, reflection activities, and individualized guidance
• Teach employability skills such as teamwork, communication, problem‑solving, professionalism, and workplace safety
• Integrate career planning tools, digital platforms, and labor market information into instruction
• Coordinate and facilitate guest speakers, industry partners, job shadowing, and field trip opportunities when available
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment consistent with CTC expectations
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to students, families, counselors, and sending schools as appropriate
• Maintain accurate records, lesson plans, and assessments in accordance with district and CTC requirements
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and curriculum planning related to career readiness and CTE initiatives

Valid state teaching certification (appropriate grade level and/or subject area)

• Minimum Requirements for this Endorsement 916:
  • Education – Must hold a current valid 5‑year standard Mississippi Educator License
  • Technology Literacy – Applicant must validate technology competency by attaining the established minimum score or higher on an assessment approved by MDE (IC3 or other approved MDE substitute)
  • Teacher Education Preparation – Applicant must successfully complete a certification for an online learning workshop, module, or course that is approved by MDE
  • Exploring Careers Certification – Applicant must successfully complete the exploring careers certification workshop, module, or course approved by MDE
  • Note:
    
    If the applicant meets all requirements listed above, the applicant will be issued a 916 endorsement on their 5‑year license. If the applicant meets the standard 5‑year license requirement but does not meet all other requirements, the applicant may be issued a three‑year endorsement, and all requirements must be satisfied prior to the ending date on that endorsement.
• Minimum Requirements for this Endorsment 917 Work Based Learning:
  • Education – Must hold a current valid 5‑year standard Mississippi Educator License
  • Respective Areas – This add‑on endorsement may be earned only by persons who hold a valid educator license in one of the following areas: 309 Special Populations Personnel, 314 Career and Technical Education Counselor, 105 Business Education, 193 Economics, 318 Marketing, or 405 Business Management.
  • Technology Literacy – Validate technology competency by attaining the established minimum score or higher on an assessment approved by MDE (IC3 or other approved MDE substitute)
  • Education Preparation – Applicant must successfully complete a certification for an online learning workshop, module, or course approved by MDE
  • Work Based Learning Certification – Applicant must successfully complete the CPE or Work Based Learning (WBL) certification workshop, module, or course approved by MDE.
