Job SummaryThe Engineering Technologist I/II position is a non‑engineer degree technical support role. Technologists work under close supervision to develop technical expertise, solve problems, and provide oversight of work in a specific area of expertise. Employees are expected to grow their technical and management skills over time, progressing from independent initiation of simple tasks (I) to independent management of more complex projects (II).
Responsibilities- Apply technical expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve problems in area of expertise.
- Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities to meet business goals.
- Conduct engineering and related studies.
- Continuously improve technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
- Develop positive working relationships to coordinate work activities.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain accurate records and files.
- Support the company’s goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
- Perform paired damage assessment for storm restoration efforts locally and/or in other corporate regions.
Required Qualifications Engineering Technologist I
- Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with no experience.
- Or high school diploma/GED and 2+ years of equivalent industry experience.
- Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with no experience.
- Or high school diploma/GED and 4+ years of equivalent industry experience without a degree.
- Experience in the utility industry.
- Understanding of basic principles of project management.
- Experience in design and drafting.
- Experience with CAD.
- Hybrid – work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. Hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility.
