Job Summary

New Horizons is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Entry‑Level Civil Engineer (EIT). In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting various aspects of telecommunications projects, including permitting, project management, and engineering design. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow while contributing to the success of our projects.

Projects typically include but are not limited to tower and shelter foundation design, equipment anchoring, platform and shelter design, site plan development, utility coordination, and fiber route design. Level of responsibility will vary depending on demonstrated experience, interests, and abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist department personnel, including engineers and project managers, with a variety of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of permitting applications for telecommunications projects.
  • Support project managers in coordinating project activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Review and collaborate on designs and drawings with a multi‑disciplinary team of engineers, subcontractors, project managers, and construction managers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups, including company employees at various levels, clients, vendors, government regulators and other outside companies and individuals.
  • Assist with and/or conduct site visits and assessments as required, providing valuable input to project teams.
  • Assist with development of various written documents as required by customers such as feasibility studies, structural analysis reports with supporting calculations and site visit assessment reports.
  • Rapidly grow in knowledge of and experience with project management and engineering concepts and gradually gain independence with assigned responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate initiation and apply organizational and problem‑solving skills to identify and develop engineering and project management solutions.
Qualifications
  • Passing result of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred, or plan to complete.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, reliability, and respect for colleagues and customers.
  • Enthusiasm for the position and a drive to learn and grow.
  • Ability to problem‑solve and work independently as well as collaborate with the project team.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (MS Excel, MS Word, Teams, and Outlook) is preferred.
  • Highly articulate and able to deliver verbal and written reports.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Available and able to travel for site visits (up to 15% of the time).
Requirements
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • This position is open only to candidates who currently reside in Alaska due to business and employment compliance requirements.

Hourly Rate: $40 per hour / $83,200 annually
