Position: Child Care Assistant Int with Potential PT-FT – 6589

Announcement: 6589.

Opening Date: 05 January 2026. Pay Plan/Series/Pay Band: NF-1702-02.

Work Schedule:

Intermittent (0-19 hours/week). Potential to become PT/FT.

About the Position

Duties

  • Plan and execute early childhood education experiences to foster healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development.
  • Collaborate with the director and teachers to develop and implement age‑appropriate curriculum and activities.
  • Establish a program environment that promotes positive interactions among children, youth, and adults.
  • Provide and lead planned activities for program participants.
  • Use approved guidance techniques, maintain program participation data, and complete required daily reports.
  • Prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials.
  • Monitor children in all areas, ensuring safety and accounting for whereabouts at all times.
  • Assist with snack/meal preparation where applicable.
  • Perform routine caregiving tasks, health checks and interaction with parents.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
  • One year of general experience working with children and/or youth in a group program.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and perform routine indoor/outdoor tasks.
  • Certified to satisfactorily complete Tier 1 background investigation and Civilian Medical Clearance Examination.

Preferred

  • Two years of education beyond high school, or a related vocational certificate in childcare.
