Designer, Systems Engineer

Join us as a Designer, to help shape and enhance our secure file transfer and cryptography services that underpin critical business operations. This role sits within a specialist engineering function focused on delivering resilient, high‑performance integration solutions. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams to design, evolve, and maintain secure connectivity services, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of key enterprise platforms.

To be successful as a Designer, you should have experience with:

• Proficient, well‑rounded knowledge of secure file transfer protocols such as SFTP, FTPs, IBM Connect:
  Direct, along with real‑time messaging technologies like MQ.
• Practical, hands‑on experience integrating Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), including exposure to PKCS#11, Java Cryptography Extension (JCE), and KMIP‑based interactions.
• Established capability applying advanced testing methodologies such as TDD, BDD, and automated testing frameworks.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Awareness of ITIL‑based release and change processes.
• Experience with API lifecycle oversight, developer portals, sandbox environments, and scaling federated API ecosystems.
• Advanced troubleshooting capabilities for diagnosing performance issues related to latency and throughput.

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
