Job Description for Electrical/HVAC Service Technician

Primary focus:
Electrical Service with the ability to cross-train in HVAC

  • As an Electrical/HVAC service technician, you will need to diagnose and repair electrical, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems while leading customers to informed and confident buying decisions for new and current Electrical and HVAC systems. This role also requires preventative maintenance to address any issues before they result in additional repairs or replacements.
Responsibilities for Electrical/HVAC Service Technician
  • Maintain and repair electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and equipment.
  • Inspect the effectiveness and safety of the current customer’s Electrical and HVAC system.
  • Ask proper lifestyle questions to troubleshoot electrical, heating, and cooling system malfunctions.
  • Perform routine maintenance on Electrical and HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance including general HVAC in-home service calls.
  • Diagnose HVAC systems for electrical and mechanical defects.
  • Clean, adjust, and repair systems, and perform warranty services.
  • Explain replacement opportunities for aging, inefficient, or underperforming Electrical and HVAC systems.
  • There may be some opportunity or overlap for installation of Electrical and HVAC systems, but the primary function of this role is service focused.
  • Ensure jobs are properly staged; sign off on job quality checklist.
  • Show yourself as professional and knowledgeable to win new referrals and repeat business.
  • Develop a proven track record in electrical, heating, and cooling systems including the ability to draw simple diagrams and read blueprints and other diagrams.
